Dr. Naila Althagafi
Founder of The Retreat and the initiator of Sisters Umrah retreats. From generations of mutawwifeen (caretakers of pilgrims) in Makkah, she is a Ministry of Tourism licensed tour guide who provides Umrah guidance and has worked in Hajj for many years with prominent Saudi Hajj companies. She leads every Sisters Umrah herself.

Can I join a Sisters Umrah without a mahram?
Yes. Saudi Arabia allows women to perform Umrah without a mahram, and you travel within our sisters-only group, hosted by our team throughout. On the religious side, scholars differ: some schools require a mahram for travel, while others, notably many Shāfiʿī and Mālikī scholars, permit a woman to travel for Hajj or Umrah within a trustworthy group of women, and many contemporary scholars hold this view when the journey is safe. We encourage each sister to follow the scholar she trusts. See our full FAQ for more detail.
Is it suitable for my first Umrah, or if I am a revert?
Yes. Sisters of all ages, born Muslim and reverts, join us. You are guided through every step, with a pre-Umrah webinar before you travel.
What is included in the price?
Each retreat is a land package: guided Umrah, hotels, transport, ziyarah, the teaching programme and experiences. Flights are not included. Each event page lists exactly what is included.
